2013 JMHCP National Training and Technical Assistance Event
The CSG Justice Center, with support from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), convened more than 300 practitioners, researchers, and public officials for the Justice and Mental Health Collaboration (JMHCP) Program National Training and Technical Assistance Event, from February 27 to March 1, 2013. The conference introduced attendees to best practices associated with positive public safety and public health outcomes to address the overrepresentation of people with mental illnesses in the criminal justice system.
The conference brought together past and present recipients of federal funding through the JMHCP, and connected front-line professionals with experts, peers, and mental health consumers who can provide guidance on maximizing their grant opportunities. The first day of the conference was restricted to FY2012 JMHCP grantees, who utilized the time to determine how to best achieve the objectives of their collaborative criminal justice/mental health programs.
