Focal PointBetween one-third and one-half of young adults with mental health challenges have co-occurring substance use issues. This volume of Focal Point by the Research and Training Center for Pathways to Positive Futures of Portland State University examines co-occurring disorders among young adults and available and effective treatment options. It also includes personal accounts from individuals who struggled with co-occurring disorders. Information on the implications of both the Affordable Care Act and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act on availability of treatment services for co-occurring disorders is also included.
