Reentry Mythbuster: On Medicaid Suspension vs. Termination

MYTH: Medicaid agencies are required to terminate eligibility if a Medicaid beneficiary is incarcerated.

FACT: Incarceration in and of itself does not impact Medicaid eligibility. States may suspend coverage during incarceration, enabling an individual to remain enrolled in the state Medicaid program, thereby facilitating access to Medicaid services following release.
