On February 4, 2014, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance released the solicitation for the Second Chance Act’s grant program for supervision initiatives, entitled “Smart Supervision: Reducing Prison Populations, Saving Money, and Creating Safer Communities.” The grant program assists state, local, and tribal agencies in developing and implementing strategies to improve supervision and reduce recidivism. Funds may be used to implement evidence-based supervision strategies or to innovate new strategies that improve outcomes for individuals under supervision.
The National Reentry Resource Center hosted this webinar for organizations responding to the Smart Supervision solicitation. In this webinar officials from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance explained the grant program and application process.
