This presentation was delivered at the 2013 JMHCP National Training and Technical Assistance Event. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) makes significant changes to the nation’s health care system, including what services must be covered by health insurance, who is eligible and how it will be paid for. These changes are particularly important to individuals with mental health and or substance abuse problems who often have multiple and complex health needs. This session provided an overview of the implications of the ACA on people involved in the criminal justice system and how practitioners can leverage the new law to improve health and public safety outcomes.
