Voices of Reentry: Dorothy Gonzales—It’s Never Too Late for Change

Jobs for the FutureThis publication is part of Jobs for the Future’s Voices of Reentry series, which highlights the impact of programs funded under federal Improved Reentry Education grants through telling individual success stories of people returning to the workforce after incarceration. This installment focuses on Dorothy Gonzales, a woman who took part in Accelerate Opportunity, a Certified Production Technician Program at the Topeka Correctional Facility in Kansas. The program is designed to provide an accelerated pathway to economic opportunity and self-sufficiency for adult learners with low levels of educational attainment. Gonzales completed the program and within days of her release was hired by SystemAir, a manufacturing and distribution center in Lenexa, Kansas.
