During this webinar, representatives from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance and the National Reentry Resource Center explain the Second Chance Act Innovations in Supervision Initiative (ISI) and application process. This grant program contains two categories.
- Category 1: Improving Supervision to Reduce Crime and Recidivism will allocate up to three awards of up to $650,000 each to assist states, units of local government, and federally recognized Native American tribal governments.
- Category 2: Collaborating with Supervision Agencies to Reduce Crime and Recidivism will allocate one award of up to $2,000,000 to assist national-scope private and nonprofit organizations (including tribal nonprofit or for-profit organizations) and both public and private colleges and universities (including Native American tribal institutions of higher education).
The goal of the 2018 ISI is to improve the capacity and effectiveness of community supervision agencies to increase probation and parole success rates and reduce the number of crimes committed by people who are under probation and parole supervision.
