Justice Reinvestment in Missouri: Overview

This publication outlines several criminal justice trends in Missouri, including an increase in violent crime; a rapidly growing female prison population; and prison admissions that are largely driven by recidivism, and summarizes the stages involved in utilizing a justice reinvestment approach to address these trends. At the request of Missouri’s governor, legislative leaders, chief justice, and other key officials and stakeholders, CSG Justice Center staff will analyze data and will assist in developing state-specific, data-driven policy options focused on increasing public safety by addressing the current trends.
