Information Sharing between Justice and Mental Health Partners: Beyond Data Warehouses

Past Event
October 26, 2021, 2:00- 3:00pm , Eastern

Hosted by The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center and IJIS Institute

To continue delivering practical and usable information to grantees on the subject of data collection, integration, and analysis, the CSG Justice Center partnered with representatives from the IJIS Institute to hold a virtual discussion on Secure Data Environments (SDE). During this webinar, IJIS program directors Robert May and Steve Ambrosini present on the benefits of an SDE, how an SDE can allow partner databases to share information securely, and how it can allow users to receive the most up-to-date data instantly. Unlike a data warehouse, an active Secure Data Environment can manage requests for, and responses to, inquiries to participating agency source data systems. Robert and Steve share the steps necessary to set up an SDE locally, and address privacy concerns related to HIPAA and other relevant regulatory, legal, and local use for data rules.

Speakers:

  • Steve Ambrosini, Program Director, IJIS Institute (presenter)
  • Robert May, Program Director, IJIS Institute (presenter)
  • Ethan Aaronson, Policy Analyst, Behavioral Health, CSG Justice Center (facilitator)
