The webinar also examined innovative and collaborative programming that some jurisdictions have employed that have decreased the harmful effects of a youth’s on-going involvement with the juvenile justice system. The presenter was Judge Linda Teodosio, who has headed Ohio’s Summit County Court of Common Pleas, Juvenile Division, since November 2002. Her administration of the Summit County Juvenile Court has garnered widespread attention for its innovations, particularly in the areas of alternative sentencing and enhanced programming. Judge Teodosio’s Court Crossroads Program, which is built on a recognition of the role mental illness plays in an individual’s substance abuse and treatment, has earned national attention.
