Funding and Sustaining Mentoring Programs

This webinar was offered to Second Chance Act mentoring grantees interested in learning strategies to fund and sustain their programs. Panelists discussed the elements of a successful sustainability plan, sources of funding for juvenile and adult programs, how to build effective collaborations, and effective uses of program data. The session also offered practical tips on how to apply lessons learned from successful mentoring programs. During the webinar, the presenter discussed two resources that could be helpful for grantees:

• 2012 Annual Report from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme (this report is an evaluation of the Targeted Re-Entry and Aftercare Mentoring Program. It is a good example of effective engagement of an external evaluator and a thorough evaluation report highlighting results).
  
• Nonprofits Anxiously Try to Show Results for New Charity Navigator Ratings, The Chronicle of Philanthropy (you must be a subscriber to read).
