How Sheriffs Can Support Federally Funded Justice and Mental Health Programs

Past Event
October 28, 2020, 2:00pm - 3:30pm, Eastern

Hosted by The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center and the National Sheriffs’ Association with funding support from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance.

The U.S. Department of Justice’s Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program (JMHCP) grants require partnership between criminal justice and behavioral health agencies. However, some grantees struggle to engage interagency partners.

This webinar features a panel of four sheriffs from current JMHCP grant-funded programs, who offer tips on building and maintaining relationships with other grant partners, such as behavioral health and social service agencies, and discuss ways to engage staff within sheriffs’ departments.

Speakers:

  • Sheriff Kevin Coppinger, Essex County, Massachusetts
  • Carrie Hill, Executive Director, Massachusetts Sheriffs’ Association
  • Sheriff Dennis Lemma, Seminole County, Florida
  • Sheriff Ian Parkinson, San Luis Obispo, California
  • Mark Stovell, Senior Policy Analyst, The Council of State Governments Justice Center
