Over the past 20 years, we have achieved strong, nationwide impact by:

• Leading the charge to prioritize treatment over incarceration. We helped secure the passage of the Mentally Ill Offender Treatment and Crime Reduction Act, which has provided $235M to communities to connect people with behavioral health needs to treatment instead of incarceration. Our work has helped launch more than 600 diversion and treatment programs across the U.S.
• Making reentry central to the mission of corrections agencies. We worked to pass the bipartisan Second Chance Act, which has generated significant funding for communities to expand reentry services. As a technical assistance provider, we’ve helped implement 1,000 reentry programs.
• Pioneering a bipartisan, data-driven approach to justice reform. We led the charge to create the Justice Reinvestment Initiative in 2009. Our efforts yielded major justice reforms in 31 states and have significantly decreased crime and reduced recidivism.
