New Opportunities under Medicaid to Address the Health Needs of Youth Leaving Correctional Facilities

The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs’ Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS), will host a webinar focused on how juvenile justice systems can implement recent omnibus Medicaid legislation that expands screening and referrals pre-release and coverage to youth in public institutions pre-adjudication. This webinar will include education on both the pending 1115 waivers and the SUPPORT ACT (suspending instead of terminating Medicaid) and will highlight critical benefits of this Medicaid expansion and how juvenile justice systems can develop statewide partnerships with Medicaid agencies, managed care, and other health providers. This webinar will showcase partnerships in action and include a panel discussion among speakers that have built strong partnerships and processes between juvenile justice agencies and health care partners.
