Victim Services Funding: State Solutions Amid Federal VOCA Uncertainty
Hosted by The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center and CSG Midwest
The federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) is a vital source of funding for people and communities affected by violent crime. While states are receiving more VOCA funding in fiscal year 2025 than 2024, questions remain about whether this funding is enough—and about the future of VOCA.
This webinar will help state and local leaders understand how they can prepare for uncertainty and maintain victim services even if federal funding drops.
Participants will learn about:
- What upcoming legislation could mean for future VOCA funding
- How VOCA funding is distributed and why it changes year to year
- New non-federal funding sources—such as dedicated state funds, court fees, and partnerships—that states are testing to support victims and survivors of crime
This event is open to everyone but intended for state and local policymakers, agency leaders, victim service providers, and community-based organizations that support victims and survivors of crime.
Presenters:
- Robert Hamill, Project Manager, CSG Justice Center
- Lorretta Sackey, Project Manager, CSG Justice Center
All registrants will receive a recording and slides after the event.
