On October 2, 2012, the CSG Justice Center hosted a webinar that provided an overview of the report, “Adults with Behavioral Health Needs under Correctional Supervision: A Shared Framework for Reducing Recidivism and Promoting Recovery.” The report provides a practical framework to assist corrections, mental health, and substance abuse policymakers and professionals to work collaboratively at the systems level to prioritize scarce treatment and supervision resources for the large number of adults with mental health and substance use disorders who cycle through the criminal justice system.

In response to substantial interest from members of the audience for the October 2, 2012 webinar, Fred Osher, M.D., and David A. D’Amora, M.S. presented a second webinar on November 13, 2012 to respond to additional questions about the report. The speakers participated in a live question-and-answer session following a review of themes raised during the first webinar. This discussion covered a variety of subject matters pertinent to the implementation of the framework, including programmatic considerations, risk assessment tools, evidence-based practices, and more.
