What is trauma? Individual trauma results from an event, series of events, or set of circumstances experienced by a person as physically and emotionally harmful or threatening and that have lasting adverse effects on the person’s physical, social, emotional, or spiritual well being. During this recorded live session, presenters reviewed cutting edge research on trauma and its impacts; explored best practices for trauma interventions, services, and the development of a trauma-informed approach; and identified specific considerations for utilizing a trauma-informed approach when working with people involved in the justice system. Additionally, panelists discussed the successes and challenges they faced when implementing trauma-specific interventions, services, and a trauma-informed approach in a Pinnellas County, FL, court.
