Accelerating Reentry: Recidivism Data & A New Roadmap for Success

Upcoming Event
April 16, 2026, 2:00pm - 3:30pm, Eastern

Hosted by The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center

The field of reentry has made measurable progress over the past decade. Nationally, recidivism rates have dropped about 20%, and nearly 75% of people released from prison do not return after at least 3 years.

As reentry leaders and practitioners aim to accelerate this progress, leaders need to know: What’s driving the decline in recidivism, and how can we learn from it? How can we move beyond isolated successes and make statewide impact?

This virtual Second Chance Month event brings together national experts and state practitioners to examine the latest 50-state data, national guidance, and cross-system strategies for improving reentry policies and practices and reducing recidivism.

During this 90-minute event, participants will learn:

  • What recent recidivism data reveals about the state of reentry
  • How to accelerate what works and scale effective pilot programs and strategies statewide
  • Why corrections, housing, workforce, and behavioral health are all key to improving reentry
  • A 7-principle framework for building coordinated, human-centered reentry systems

This event is open to all but intended for corrections, reentry, workforce development, housing, and behavioral health leaders and practitioners.

All registrants will receive a recording and slides after the event.
