Amber Watlington
Senior Policy Analyst, State Initiatives
As a senior policy analyst on the community supervision and technology team, Amber Watlington helps state corrections departments increase their use of technology to drive informed decision-making. Specifically, her work under the Advancing Data in Corrections initiative provides resources and technical assistance to corrections agencies with to increase data capacity, analysis capabilities, and the corrections analyst workforce. Prior to joining the CSG Justice Center, Amber worked as a diversion specialist with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in North Carolina, aiming to keep youth out of the juvenile justice system. She used evidence-based practices to provide youth with the necessary tools to reduce delinquency. Amber also specialized in data analytics and provided up-to-date diversion data for various stakeholders, such as the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council. Amber has a BS in criminal justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and an MS in criminal justice from Saint Leo University.
