Anthony Campbell has served as an assistant chief of police at the Yale Police Department since June 2019. Prior to his tenure at Yale overseeing patrol operations, community engagement, and emergency services, Campbell served as an inspector at the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office. Over the course of his 21-year career as a law enforcement officer, Campbell rose through the ranks of the New Haven Police Department as sergeant, lieutenant, assistant chief, and, finally, as the chief of the department. He has served in the department’s Division of Training and Education, Detail Room, and Internal Affairs. He also served as the unofficial chaplain of the New Haven Police Department. Campbell is a graduate of Yale University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in religious studies and his MDiv from the Yale Divinity School. Campbell is a graduate of Yale University, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in religious studies and his Masters of Divinity from the Yale Divinity School.
