Juanisha Byrd provides technical assistance and guidance to states and policymakers, using data to reduce criminal justice spending as part of the Justice Reinvestment Initiative. Before joining the CSG Justice Center, Juanisha led initiatives and partnerships at the Center for Policing Equity, working to redesign public safety by replacing punitive systems with care-focused approaches. Her work has significantly contributed to reducing racial disparities in policing outcomes nationwide and to protecting, supporting, and empowering marginalized communities. With extensive experience in public health and strategic implementation, she is an expert in co-designing community-driven initiatives, public health interventions, and justice-centered programs. Juanisha holds a BS in public health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an MPH from Benedictine University.
