2022 Judge Stephen S. Goss Lifetime Achievement Recipient
The Honorable Milton L. Mack, Jr. is state court administrator emeritus for the Michigan Supreme Court and chair of the Governor’s Mental Health Diversion Council. His 2017 policy paper, Decriminalization of Mental Illness: Fixing a Broken System, helped lead to the establishment of the National Judicial Task Force to Examine State Courts’ Response to Mental Illness, of which he was co-chair from 2019 to 2020. In his 30-plus-year career, Judge Mack has worked as a consultant and advisor to numerous advocacy groups, including the National Shattering Silence Coalition, an organization that advocates for the equitable treatment of people with serious mental illnesses.
