Creating Buy-in: Best Practices for Collaborating with Referral Sources on Crisis Stabilization Units
Hosted by The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center and the Bureau of Justice Assistance
An increasing number of jurisdictions are exploring ways to expand and/or improve their crisis system responses when interacting with people experiencing a mental health and/or substance use crisis. One option includes crisis stabilization units (CSUs) or similarly designed models. While CSUs are a great diversion opportunity, implementation can be very challenging. Having buy-in from referral sources, particularly law enforcement agencies, can help strengthen this critical diversion option while improving the jurisdiction’s overall crisis response system. This webinar is designed as a panel forum to discuss best practices to encourage buy-in from potential CSU referral sources. Panelists include both mental and behavioral health professionals, such as people with lived experiences and law enforcement agencies representing jurisdictions with CSUs.
