On Track: How Well Are States Preparing Youth in the Juvenile Justice System for Employment?
Hosted by the National Reentry Resource Center with funding support from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance
In 2019, The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center partnered with the Council of Juvenile Correctional Administrators to conduct a 50-state survey on the provision of career and technical education and workforce development services for youth in their juvenile justice systems. Findings from the survey, along with recommendations for implementing best practices, are highlighted in the upcoming policy brief On Track: How Well Are States Preparing Youth in the Juvenile Justice System for Employment?
In this webinar staff from the CSG Justice Center and representatives from the U.S. Department of Education discuss findings from this policy brief, opportunities for states and jurisdictions to improve employment outcomes for this population, and best practice examples from other jurisdictions around the country.
Presenters:
- Jacob Agus-Kleinman, Policy Analyst, The CSG Justice Center
- Sean Addie, Director of Correctional Education, U.S. Department of Education
- Richard Pettey, Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary, U.S. Department of Education
